Meet Pistol Pete: The Official Face of IntroVet (and Unofficial Head of Morale)

The face of IntroVet, distinguished senior gentleman, and the warm stuff that makes us, us.

Every company has an org chart. Ours has a dog at the top of it. (Functionally. Emotionally. Don't check the paperwork.)

Welcome to Behind the Scenes — the corner of the blog for Pistol Pete updates, team news, Free CE recaps, and the warm stuff that makes us, us. And there is no better way to open this category than with a proper introduction to the gentleman in our office.

The distinguished dog in question

If you've spent any time on our site, you've met him already: handsome, distinguished greying muzzle, ears built for maximum flop, and his signature seasonal bandanas. That's Pistol Pete — the official face of IntroVet and the unofficial standard against which all Very Good Boys are measured around here.

He presides over our monthly Recharge roundups, lends his face to our events, and generally serves as Head of Morale/Chief of Staff, a position he has never once been late for.

What "Behind the Scenes" is actually for

Here's what you can expect: veterinary CE can be a pretty faceless industry. Course catalogs, credit hours, checkout pages. We'd rather you actually know who you're learning with.

So this is where we'll share:

  1. Pistol Pete updates— obviously, and with the frequency you'd expect from people who work with his face all day
  2. Team news— IntroVet is a woman-owned small business, and the humans behind it have stories worth telling
  3. Free CE recaps— when we run free CE events, we'll recap them here so you can catch what you missed and grab what's next
  4. The giving-back ledger— more on this in a second, because it's our favorite part

The part Pete is proudest of

Here's something baked into how IntroVet works: a portion of every registration goes to charities who increase access to vet care. When you earn your CE with us, some of that registration fee goes right back to animals who need it — which means your license renewal quietly doubles as a good deed.

We share more on where that support goes all around our blog, because we think you deserve to see the impact you're part of. Pete, a rescue-hearted soul if there ever was one, has reviewed this policy and given it two paws. (He would give more, but he's lying down.)

Pistol Pete’s Story

Pistol Pete first arrived in Dr. Rizzo’s life as a tiny, 7-pound, starving puppy. A good samaritan found him in a box, emaciated and covered in ants. Further investigation found he was also pancytopenic, hypoglycemic, and had hemaotchezia. Needless to say, he had a rough start in life! Despite the odds being against him, he immediately went to work making every member of the ER staff fall in love with him, accepting snacks and giving kisses, even when he was too weak to get up. After lots of TLC, he overcame his sickness and grew into the handsome, comedic gentleman he is today. He turns 13 this year! In that time, he’s visited around 30 US States, earned more than a dozen BARK Ranger badges, and wooed many a conference attendee.
