Kristin Fischer
DVM, DACVO
Dr. Kristin Fischer is a board-certified veterinary ophthalmologist, founder of OphthoVet Consulting, LLC, and an ophthalmology specialty guide on the online continuing education platform VetHive. She completed her ophthalmology residency at the University of Tennessee and became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists in 2012.
After her residency, Dr. Fischer started a new ophthalmology service at a multi-specialty hospital in Columbia, SC, before settling finally in the Lowcountry of South Carolina with her husband, Scott, and their two amazing children. Currently, Dr. Fischer is a lead doctor at her private practice ophthalmology clinic in the Charleston, SC area (Animal Eye Care of the Lowcountry) and actively donates her time and services to local rescue organizations and raptor rehabilitation centers in the Lowcountry.
Dr. Fischer is an active member of the ACVO. Her professional interests include ocular manifestations of systemic disease, parotid duct transposition surgery, and cataract surgery. Dr. Fischer is passionate about sharing her knowledge with general practitioners locally and beyond which prompted her to start OphthoVet
Consulting, providing continuing education and teleconsultation to general practitioners world-wide.
In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, playing with her pets (dogs- Tater Tot & French Fry and cats-Yoda & Jolene), and riding horses.
Elizabeth Lutz
DVM, MS, DACVO
Dr. Lutz is a board-certified veterinary ophthalmologist serving as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the Shreiber School of Veterinary Medicine of Rowan University. She earned her B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania and her D.V.M. from Cornell University. Dr. Lutz completed extensive post-graduate training, culminating in a residency and a Master of Science degree in Comparative Ophthalmology at The Ohio State University, where she also served as Chief Resident.
A highly respected voice in her field, Dr. Lutz is published in numerous veterinary and human ophthalmology journals. Her research has been recognized with multiple awards, including the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmology's (ACVO) Best Research Paper Award—the most prestigious honor given to a resident. She is a nationally invited speaker, serves as an editor for leading veterinary journals, and holds several committee positions within the ACVO.
After co-owning and building a multi-specialty and emergency hospital in Philadelphia, Dr. Lutz is excited to return to teaching and caring for patients in the greater Philadelphia suburbs. Her diverse clinical interests include the medical and surgical management of glaucoma, lens and corneal surgery, and exotic animal ophthalmology. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Pete, her family, and her beloved rescue animals.
