WEBINAR DESCRIPTION

Trauma: When Big, Bad Wounds Need Your Help

The variety of wound-care products out there are almost as infinite as the number of wounds we treat as veterinarians! How do you decide which materials to apply to which wounds? When can a broken bone heal with a splint? When’s the right time to plan for surgical closure? How do we achieve the best pain control?

This 2-day live/interactive workshop is here to answer all these questions and more! Join pro-surgical team, Doctors Clara Goh and Sarah Marvel, and master pain specialist, Dr. Sheilah Robertson, to gain confidence in treating trauma.

In part one, we’ll take a deep dive into pain management, with one of the world's foremost experts on the subject! Dr. Sheilah Robertson is one of the only veterinarians to have received Board Certification five times over. But our favorite thing about Dr. Robertson is her teaching style!

We’ll start with images and videos to practice identifying signs of pain and assigning pain scores. Then, hear how ketamine is changing the way we manage pain in humans and animals. We’ll round out the day with a cat-specific lesson in pain management, and a session on integrative approaches to pain management.

In part two, dig into trauma and wound care with CSU Pros, Dr. Goh and Dr. Marvel. We’ll walk step-by-step through the decision-making process for managing wounds of all shapes and sizes. Understand how to prioritize wound care product options, learn how to relieve tension and tackle difficult closures (with tie-over bandages, grafting, and special suture patterns), watch an expert place a cast, and more.

To tie it all together, we’ll close out the webinar with a series of trauma case challenges. Consider how you’d approach the case, then see the real-life outcome!
