COURSE DESCRIPTION
Treat the Blue Dot… Or Not?
Originally presented in 2025, this 5.5 hour lecture series takes a bite out of a variety of environmental hazards. We’ll start with a deep dive into tick-borne disease, covering the most important organisms for both dogs and cats. Next, we’ll move on to things that sting - bees, fire ants, spider bites, and more! Learn rapid recognition of hypersensitivity and anaphylactic reactions, so you can quickly reverse the process before things turn life-threatening. We’ll close out this course with a lesson on a variety of other outdoor offenders - from cane toads to porcupines to fish hooks.
You won’t want to miss this crucial summer-in-the-ER prep course!
HIGHLIGHTS:
- Review logical decision-making for pets suspected of having a tick-borne disease
- Create your clinical checklist for rapidly ID’ing and treating anaphylactic shock
- Investigate what helps, what’s harmful, and what’s plain useless when it comes to treating insect bites
- Discuss signs and management of spider bites and scorpion stings
- Learn a unique new trick for removing fish hooks
- Get tips on treating porcupine quill trauma, toad encounters, and more
