WEBINAR DESCRIPTION
Striking, Stinging, Swarming: Creepy Crawlies are Coming Soon
This April, join us online for a weekend-long lesson in bite-related illnesses. From tick-borne disease to snakebites and everything in between, this workshop will have you checking over your shoulder as you prepare to handle ‘biting’ diseases of all kinds.
On day one, hear the latest in diagnosis and treatment of tick-borne diseases and heartworms with parasitologist, Dr. Lindsay Starkey. Then we'll move into discussion on snakebites with criticalists, Drs. Kendon Kuo and Kathy Gerken. They'll cover rattlesnakes, coral snakes, treatment do's and don'ts, up-and-coming therapies, and explain how to choose an antivenom product and when to administer.
On day two, we will swoop in on lessons in bee stings, ant bites, and spiders. Learn how to recognize the signs of anaphylactic reactions related to bites and stings, and how to differentiate true spider bites from other types of wounds. Get up to speed on ideal treatments (and useless treatments) for anaphylaxis. And finally, we’ll close out the workshop with pro tips on treating pets who’ve been ‘bitten’ by fish hooks, bufo toads, and porcupines.
After this workshop, you’ll be ready to handle every consequence of ‘things that bite’ our patients.
