COURSE DESCRIPTION
Understand the nuances of prescribing compounded medications
In this free one-hour video course, we’ll review the reasoning behind - and laws governing - the use of compounded medications in veterinary medicine. Given the limited number of medications approved for veterinary purposes, veterinarians often rely on compounded medications to adhere to their treatment protocols. Through compounding, veterinarians can utilize a broader variety of strengths to treat all sizes of animals, ease the burden of medicating using multiple delivery methods, and increase compliance by adding flavoring to medications. Compounding can also fill the gap when a commercially manufactured medication goes on backorder. Some of the ways that veterinarians can access compounded medications have been affected by recent and upcoming regulatory guidance. There are solutions to protecting this access as well as alleviating unwanted stress on treated animals (and their caretakers).
Through this video, ensure your practice is following the necessary steps to prescribe compounded medications within the bounds of regional and national regulations.
