We’re thrilled to introduce Dr. Gaby Escalante!
Dr. Gaby Escalante
DVM, DACVAA
Gaby Escalante (DVM, DACVAA) attended the University of Illinois U-C for both undergrad and veterinary school, and then completed a rotating internship at Lakeshore Veterinary Specialists. To finish off her veterinary education, she completed a rigorous residency in veterinary anesthesiology & analgesia at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She has abundant experience in teaching - in both academic & private practice settings - as well as research experience.
She has been involved in multiple research publications in the following scientific journals: Medical & Veterinary Entomology, Journal of Avian Medicine & Surgery, American Journal of Veterinary Research, and the Journal of Veterinary Anesthesia & Analgesia. Her clinical interests include: respiratory disease & management of difficult airways, multimodal anesthesia, integrating locoregional anesthesia into daily practice, oral sedation, improving anesthetic recoveries, and anesthesia for wildlife/exotic animals.
Dr. Gaby has an immense love for teaching and is always excited to be able to share her knowledge about veterinary anesthesia with veterinary professionals and pet parents. She currently provides anesthesia consultation & training services through her business MACvet (Midwest Anesthesia Consulting Veterinary Services).
When not focused on her sharing her love for veterinary anesthesia, Dr. Gaby enjoys spending time with her partner Jeffrey and her zoo of animals (dogs, budgies, pigeon, russian tortoise, and multiple freshwater aquariums). She is obsessed with any and all birds, fancy cocktails, karaoke, and most importantly… BIRDS!
