MEET OUR EVENT SPEAKERS
Nadine Fiani
BVSc, DACVD
Dr. Nadine Fiani is an associate clinical professor and Section Chief of Dentistry and Oral Surgery at Cornell University’s College of Veterinary Medicine, where she also serves in senior leadership roles within the Cornell University Hospital for Animals. A Diplomate of the American Veterinary Dental College and Founding Fellow in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Dr. Fiani received her veterinary degree with honors from the University of Sydney and completed her specialty residency at the University of California, Davis. Her career spans clinical practice, academia, and international collaboration. Dr. Fiani is widely recognized for her expertise in veterinary dentistry and oral surgery, with an extensive record of peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, and invited lectures. She is an award-winning educator and mentor, having received multiple honors for teaching excellence and played a key role in training residents and veterinary students. Her work integrates clinical innovation, research, and education, with a strong emphasis on advancing patient care and fostering the next generation of veterinary specialists.
Patrick Flynn
DVM, MS
Dr. Flynn is the managing professional services veterinarian for the Western Florida Zoetis team. He received his veterinary degree from the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine in 1994 and practiced companion animal medicine and surgery for 13 years before joining then Pfizer, now Zoetis in 2006.
His passion and curiosity for the scientific study of the role other animals play in our life (and vice versa) led him to Canisius College in Buffalo, N.Y. where, in 2019, he completed a Master of Science in Anthrozoology (the study of human/animal interactions) and is one of very few veterinarians with this qualification. Additionally, he is the President of the Human Animal Bond Association, HAB certified through NAVC Institute and a Certified Compassion Fatigue Professional. In 2024, his short story about meeting Dr. Jane Goodall for the first time was published in a book by Marc Bekoff produced for her 90th birthday.
Rae Hutchins
DVM, DACVIM (SAIM)
Dr. Rae Hutchins, DVM, DACVIM (SAIM), is Wedgewood’s inaugural Chief Veterinary Officer, dedicated to advancing patient care and supporting veterinarians with innovative solutions. She has held leadership roles as Chief Clinical Officer at United Veterinary Care, Group Vice President at VCA, and Medical Director of a multi-specialty hospital, shaping clinical excellence and operational strategy. She earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from North Carolina State University and is a board-certified specialist in small animal internal medicine.
Passionate about improving access to care, Dr. Hutchins serves on the Board of Directors for Waggle, a nonprofit that helps provide financial assistance for animals in need. She is committed to ensuring veterinarians have the resources and support to deliver the highest level of care.
As Chief Veterinary Officer, Dr. Hutchins is actively working across Wedgewood to develop pharmacy solutions that support veterinarians and enhance patient care. She is focused on fostering collaboration, advancing innovation, and ensuring Wedgewood remains the trusted partner veterinarians rely on for quality, expertise, and support.
Lauren Jones
VMD
Lauren Jones, VMD, is a veterinarian, practice owner, industry innovator, and the Director of Veterinary Medicine at Shepherd Veterinary Solutions. A proud University of Pennsylvania graduate, she’s spent her career helping veterinary teams work smarter, not harder. Dr. Jones blends clinical know-how with business savvy to empower veterinarians, streamline operations, and fight burnout. She’s passionate about helping technology and leadership work for vets (not the other way around), and helping practices thrive while delivering top-notch patient care.
Courtney Pierce
DVM, MBA
Dr. Courtney Pierce received her undergraduate and veterinary degrees from North Carolina State University. She practiced small animal general medicine and surgery for 12 years prior to joining Zoetis in 2019. Her professional interests include soft tissue and laparoscopic surgery, pain management and feline medicine. She obtained her MBA from King University in 2022 and is currently the medical lead for the pain portfolio at Zoetis. Dr. Pierce lives on a small farm in Damascus, Virginia with her husband, two boys, and a variety of companion and farm animals including two mini donkeys named Dolly Parton and June Carter Cash.
Brianna Potter
DVM, MS, DACVIM (Cardio)
Brianna Potter is a graduate of the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine and completed a Small Animal Rotating Internship at the Ohio State University Veterinary Medical Center in 2016. She then completed a cardiology residency and 2-year Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at Colorado State University Veterinary Teaching Hospital in 2021. She is a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in Cardiology and is currently an assistant professor in Cardiology at Colorado State University. Her interests encompass interventional therapies for congenital and acquired heart disease, with a particular focus on degenerative mitral valve disease, as well as advanced cardiac imaging.
